This Sunday, at 7pm, at the Cowley Club, we present an evening of food and music in honour of the Kurdish new year. We have a really exciting line up of performers and the promise of Kurdish cous cous and Falafel. Come come come!
Performing, we have:
Sam Berkson, poet and performer extraordinaire,
Chris Parkinson, the true inheritor of Ivor Cutler,
Momma Swift, folk-punk from Brighton – angry, inspiring, and oh! that beautiful voice!
Bunty, omg! Bunty, the most brilliant performer, creator, musician and all round genius in the city,
and finally Fiddlesparks, foot stomping Irish and American tunes with a Yiddish twist.
We’ll have lots of fun and more importantly we’ll be raising money for the displaced Kurds of Syria, and their struggle to establish an autonomous space in Rojava.
Here is a link with loads of information about the situation in the region of Korbane. The situation is pretty dire, but out of the destruction, with luck, hard work and financial, political and practical support a better world might be formed.
See you on Sunday!
